Ädelbrook Celebrated their 27th Annual Golf for Kids Tournament

Ädelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services celebrated their 27th Annual Golf for Kids tournament on September 14th at Lyman Orchards Golf Course in Middlefield, CT. Through the support of community partners, volunteers, advocates, sponsors, and donors, Ädelbrook was able to raise a total of $65,000, the most money raised in the history of this tournament.

The generosity and support of Ädelbrook’s mission partners will continue to enrich the lives of Adelbrook’s youth and young adults throughout the year. The beautiful fall day included not only a great day of golf, but also raffles, an auction, a student art display, and most importantly, an opportunity to learn more about the growing needs of children and families with Autism and the amazing work Ädelbrook is doing to support those in need. Each of the 18-holes featured a fact sign about Ädelbrook’s history, providing golfers with the opportunity to learn more about Ädelbrook, Autism, and the individuals they serve.

The afternoon program was facilitated by Alyssa Taglia, news anchor and reporter on WTNH News 8. The program kicked off with impactful messages from Alyssa Goduti, Adelbrook’s President & CEO and Roger Oxendale, Board Chair. Ädelbrook’s 2023 annual awards were given to Covenant Trust, Business Partner of the Year, and the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Community Partner of the Year. Covenant Trust provides investment management, trustee services, estate and gift planning and has shown tremendous dedication to Ädelbrook’s programs and those it serves.

DDS supports Ädelbrook’s critical mission of advocating for and helping children and adults with disabilities. They’ve partnered with Ädelbrook this year to open the Linda Reilly-Blue Respite Center, a first-in-the-state weekend respite program for children with Developmental/ Intellectual disabilities and are working with Ädelbrook to build new programs for children with significant needs. The evening concluded with a message from Jody Triche, a parent, who shared a moving and personal story about the challenges faced by parents and impact Ädelbrook has made on his son and family. His moving words brought the room to tears, as he eloquently explained why he would put “Ädelbrook in the almost too go to be true category”.

The event was truly a testament to Ädelbrook and the incredible impact made on their students, residents, and families on a daily basis. Alyssa Goduti, President and CEO of Ädelbrook commented, “For so many children and families over the years, Ädelbrook has been a home for hope. Thank you to all those who support Ädelbrook. Thank you for joining us as champions in sharing the belief in the infinite possibilities of those we serve.”

Ädelbrook is incredibly grateful to all of the amazing mission ambassadors who helped make the tournament a success, and they are already looking forward to next year’s 28th Annual Golf for Kids tournament!
