2025 National Association of Special Education Teachers Schools of Excellence award

Ädelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services is proud to announce that both our Cromwell Academy and Manchester Academy have been selected as 2025 NASET Schools of Excellence by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET). This prestigious distinction is the highest level of recognition a special education school can receive from the NASET Professional Organization.

Since 2008, NASET has honored a select group of private special education programs that meet rigorous professional criteria and demonstrate exceptional commitment to the students they serve. According to NASET, the award is given to schools that show “truly exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievement in the field of special education.” Ädelbrook is honored to be among the few approved private special education providers in Connecticut to receive this national recognition—not just once, but now across multiple campuses.

“This dual recognition is a powerful affirmation of the strength of our educational programs,” said Alyssa Goduti, President & CEO of Ädelbrook. “We are honored to be recognized by NASET as a School of Excellence. This award is reflective of the compassionate, dedicated, and talented staff within our programs that have helped Ädelbrook become the premier agency serving individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The incredible accomplishments of our students are a testament to their determination but are also fueled by the hope, encouragement, and commitment of our amazing staff.”

The 2025 award highlights the exceptional work being done at both Cromwell and Manchester Academies, where students with autism, intellectual, and developmental disabilities receive personalized, compassionate, and trauma-informed support. These programs provide a nurturing, therapeutic, and academically rigorous environment where students can grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

Dr. Dale R. Hoyt, Vice President for Education at Ädelbrook, responded to this award with a statement that exemplifies Ädelbrook’s commitment to excellence and achievement:

“This award celebrates the unwavering dedication, tireless commitment, and remarkable achievements of both the Manchester and Cromwell Academies in the field of Special Education. These programs reflect a deep passion for empowering every learner and creating environments where all students can thrive. We are especially thrilled to announce that this marks the third consecutive year Ädelbrook Academy in Cromwell has received this prestigious honor—a testament to the extraordinary efforts of their educators, staff, and entire school community.”

That commitment is deeply embedded in the culture and leadership at each campus. Allyssa Mullins, Director of Education at Cromwell Academy, reflected on the school’s intentional focus on growth and collaboration. “Our school is driven by a continuous growth mindset and a commitment to becoming the premier provider of special education services,” she said. “Our core values and mission follow us year after year with new goals to achieve. The positive energy to support students with autism is contagious, but most importantly, we always put our students’ needs first. That focus is the foundation of our success in preparing them for bright, meaningful futures—with confidence, dignity, and purpose.”

As Ädelbrook celebrates 125 years of service, this dual recognition from NASET serves as a meaningful milestone in our legacy of supporting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. It reflects not only the strength of our present-day programs, but also a century-long commitment to innovation, compassion, and excellence in care and education. As we honor this achievement, we remain focused on the future—continuing to grow, adapt, and lead as a trusted partner in the lives of the students and families we are privileged to serve.
