Small Class Sizes
With low student-to-staff ratios, students at Ädelbrook receive the individualized attention they need to thrive. At the Bloomfield Academy, our low teacher-to-student ratio ensures personalized support and a stronger learning experience.
Extended School Year (ESY)
The Extended School Year (ESY) is a 7-week program that combines structured learning with community engagement, allowing students to continue developing academically, socially, and emotionally during the summer months.
Work Study and Vocational Training
Students gain real-world experience through onsite and offsite vocational opportunities. With supported on-site experiences and working with local businesses, students build practical skills for future employment.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Our lessons follow Connecticut Core State Standards, and offer adaptive physical education, art, and music classes.
Enrichment Classes
Our enrichment classes are guided by student interests and designed to build real-world skills. From cooking, to STEM instruction, and Fitness and Yoga, students gain confidence, creativity, and hands-on experience beyond the classroom.
ADA Compliant Adaptive Campus
Students benefit from a single-level space with sensory hallways and an outdoor playground—all designed for accessibility and inclusion.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
PBIS is a tiered system that promotes both academic and behavioral success. Students are recognized and rewarded for positive behavior through a point-based system. These points can be “cashed in” daily for preferred items or experiences, helping reinforce good choices in real time. School-wide incentives include student council, town hall meetings, assemblies, whole-school events, and “Magic Fridays,” all designed to build a supportive, engaging school culture.
Empowering Every Student to Succeed
Technology-Enhanced Learning
Each classroom features SMART Boards and personal devices like iPads or Chromebooks to support our primarily online curriculum. We also use assistive technology and communication tools to support diverse learning needs and ensure every student can engage, connect, and thrive.
Preparing for the Future
We collaborate across all academies to support smooth transitions and provide a continuum of care from Pre-K through age 22. In Bloomfield, we focus on helping students generalize skills across settings to prepare for success in less restrictive environments—and for life beyond the classroom
