Weekend Respite for Caregivers

A Weekend of Rest for Caregivers and Their Loved Ones

Opened in 2022, the Linda Reilly-Blue Respite Home is the first program of its kind in Connecticut. It offers weekend respite for individuals with Autism, Intellectual, and Developmental Disabilities, providing 24-hour care for those eligible for the DDS Behavioral Services Program (BSP). The program aims to offer short-term relief for primary caregivers in a community home setting.

The Linda Reilly-Blue Respite Home

Caring for a child with significant needs is a 24/7 commitment, and families often struggle to find the time to rest, recharge, and maintain balance. Without support, families may become overwhelmed and in danger of breaking apart.

The Linda Reilly-Blue Children’s Respite Home was created to change that. Funded by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, this program helps keep families strong and intact while preventing the need for more intensive levels of care.

The home is named in honor of Linda Reilly-Blue, a lifelong advocate for children and families, and an adoptive parent of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Her vision of hope and resilience continues to guide the program today.
